Parmesan Burger

Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 whole large eggs, beaten
1 cup dry Italian bread crumbs
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese
4 oz can mushroom pieces
1 can (28 oz) tomato sauce
3 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese

Preparation

In a medium mixing bowl combine the ground beef, salt, and pepper. Mix lightly and shape into 6 patties.

Dust each patty with flour and dip them into the beaten eggs. Gently press the bread crumbs into the patties. Heat the olive oil over a low heat in a medium frying pan. Place the patties in the pan and cook until browned on both sides.

Remove from the frying pan and place in a baking dish. Sprinkle the top of the patties with mozzarella. Place the mushroom pieces on top of the cheese and cover with the tomato sauce.

Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese on top. Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes at 325° F or until the cheese is melted. Serve by itself or with a bun. Also goes great with spaghetti noodles.
